Our Investment philosophy is based on the
following principles:
Value investing:
We embrace a "value" approach to investing. We only invest
in companies that we believe are trading at a discount to their
intrinsic values.
Long-term investing: We invest for the long-term which means
we are patient investors. Short-term movements in securities markets
are typically quite volatile and unpredictable. However, it is this
short term volatility that provides patient investors with opportunities
to buy securities for less than their intrinsic value.
Doing Homework: We take a considered approach to investing
that includes using research from respected sources and industry
experts as well as our own due diligence and valuation methods to
determine whether or not the securities should be purchased. We
are selective when it comes to executing investment decisions and
only use our best ideas.
Customized investing: We customize your investments according
to your return objectives and your risk tolerance. We include only
investments deemed appropriate for your investment horizon. We do
not include securities that are not appropriate for, or consistent
with, your investment plan or personal philosophies.
Minimizing Costs and Taxes: Because our approach typically
results in longer holding periods there is less portfolio turnover
and lower tax rates on realized capital gains.
Investing Along with Our Clients: We believe in our processes
and investment selection. The composition of our own portfolio looks
similar to those of our clients' portfolios.
